Statement from Governor Andrew M. Cuomo on Ramadan

Posted to Applied Web NY on Sun, 05/05/2019 - 17:23

"This evening begins the holy month of Ramadan, when many families in New York will join together with their loved ones to reflect while fasting.

"This holiday is an opportunity to embrace the Muslim values of empathy and charity, as well as exceptional discipline and patience.

"At a time when intolerance and division is being spread across our nation, including the abhorrent violence recently inflicted on houses of worship here and abroad, we reaffirm New York's commitment to standing up to those who seek to divide us and working together to build a kinder, more tolerant society for the future.

"To all who celebrate, Ramadan Mubarak."
